Formerly Senior Scientist at the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust, Barbara designed and led large-scale agricultural ecology experiments operating at landscape scales, investigating how farming systems can support biodiversity and the ecosystem services on which food production depends. She has managed major UK and European research projects and co-directed the Centre for Pollination Studies at University of Calcutta for eight years. Her portfolio includes leadership roles in projects funded by the European Union, UKRI, DEFRA and the Darwin Initiative, including QuESSA, Farm4Bio, Rebugging the System, PLANET4B and TRUE.

Now Director of NatureRes and Associate Professor at Coventry University's Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience, Barbara works with researchers, policymakers, NGOs, businesses and communities to generate evidence, inform decision-making and deliver practical solutions for nature recovery and sustainable land management. Her work is grounded in participatory and transdisciplinary approaches, drawing on collaborations across the UK, Europe and India.

Alongside her ecological research, Barbara teaches on the Regenerative Design programme at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, where she explores how ecology, creativity and design can work together to address environmental challenges. This perspective informs NatureRes' approach to developing innovative, collaborative solutions that connect people, nature and place.
