Participatory, Place-Based Approaches

Bringing people, knowledge and place together

NatureRes associates have worked with communities, land managers, researchers and organisations to develop participatory approaches that bring different forms of knowledge together.

Ecological challenges are shaped by the particular histories, environments and people of a place. Scientific research provides one important perspective, but it is often complemented by the detailed knowledge held by farmers, land managers, communities and others who have long-term relationships with a landscape.

What we can offer

We can work with partners to create opportunities for these different perspectives to be shared, explored and combined, helping develop a richer understanding of ecological systems and more grounded approaches to conservation and restoration.

We can work with you to co-develop questions, gather knowledge, explore solutions and learn together. Our aim is to create spaces where different kinds of knowledge can meet, where people can learn from one another, and where ecological action is shaped by both evidence and place.
